1st class Frisian pole vaulting competitions
Come to IJlst (one of the 11 Frisian cities) and experience a typical Frisian sport: fierljeppen (pole vaulting). The 1st class fierljep competitions will take place on two days (14 June and 9 July 2025), followed by the Fryslân Cup (9 August 2025). The best 8 ljeppers per category will compete in the first class. The competition will be for the daily title and at the same time for the ranking. Fierljeppen is a traditional Frisian sport. During fierljep competitions, ljeppers in different age groups jump as far as possible. Using a pole, they try to bridge a ditch. Each ljepper has 3 attempts, the furthest distance counts towards the ranking. The leader of the ranking wears the Pompeblêden shirt.

Location
The fierljepschrans is located at Sudergoweg 1C in IJlst. Parking is possible at the adjacent ice rink of IJlst, at De Tsjalk 2, 8651 CZ IJlst.
Important to know
Visitors can bring a chair or sit on one of our seats/benches or on the grass. There are toilets available. The ticket office is open well in advance, even after the start of the competition. Fierljeppen depends on the weather; if it rains, jumping is not possible. In that case, the competition will either be postponed or moved to another day. Visiting the fierljep competitions is suitable for all ages. Wheelchair users can find a spot on tiles, there is a MIVA toilet.

Fierljepferiening Drylts e.o.
Fierljepferiening Drylts (fierljep association IJlst) is one of the six fierljep associations in Friesland. The association's goal is to achieve high-level sporting achievements with pleasure and together. In 1986, the WâtteAbma skânsen were built at Sudergoweg 1C. In 2010, the first youth jumps were built in IJlst, which were given the name Rimmer Abma skânsen. The association organizes official fierljep competitions and you can follow a clinic there yourself.
