Time travel through lakes and Gaasterland
Take a journey through time through the southwest corner of Friesland with the cheerful guide Yde. Hop on a vintage FRAM bus from 1971 and be enchanted by the beautiful landscape of the Frisian Lakes and Gaasterland. Experience history through tall tales and discover the most unique roads and spots in the region. Yde is the guide and storyteller; he will let you experience the region with passion and humor. Caution: there is a risk of laughter! Includes coffee/tea and authentic Frisian orange cake at the historic Hotel Jans in Rijs and admission to the monumental town hall and museum of Sloten. Start: Jetze Veldstraweg 46A, Ouwsterhaule (National Public Transport Museum). Ample free parking is available.
Important to know
Please arrive at the vintage bus fifteen minutes before the afternoon tour so you can find a seat. The guide and driver will be waiting for you there. The bus departs promptly at 1:00 PM. For the day tour, coffee will be ready at 10:00 AM in the museum. In case of chilly weather: please note that the transportation will be in a beautiful vintage bus, but it will not have modern heating. Tickets can be purchased until 6:00 PM the day before the tour. The tour will proceed if there are at least 18 registrations. You will be notified by email no later than 7:00 PM the day before the scheduled tour. If not, you may choose another day or cancel. Guest safety is our top priority. In the event of unsafe weather conditions, the tour may be rescheduled (for example, dangerously slippery conditions, or a code orange or red warning). Tickets will then remain valid for an alternative date. You will be notified of this by email as soon as possible.

As a Frisian Storyteller, I let guests experience the stories of Friesland by taking them on a tour through the Frisian countryside. I organize various tours: -Through Southwest Friesland, past the Frisian Lakes and through Gaasterland. This tour lasts 4.5 hours and starts at the National Public Transport Museum in Ouwsterhaule. -Through Central Friesland, past the Royal Oranjewoud up to the poor peat colonies.
