In the middle of the beautiful forest near Oudemirdum lies the charming cottage Boshuis 't Zusje. The hilly surroundings almost make you forget that you are in Friesland. From the cottage you can discover the special nature of Gaasterland, such as the Rijsterbos and the unique cliffs, including the Oudemirdumerklif. The area offers plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, sailing or horse riding. In the village of Oudemirdum you will find the visitor center Mar en Klif, where you can learn more about the National Landscape Southwest Friesland. The cozy village is bustling with shops, cozy restaurants and historic buildings around the Brink. Nearby villages such as Balk, Stavoren, Hindeloopen, Rijs, Harich and Bakhuizen are also worth exploring. At the Mirnser Klif there is a beautiful beach with low tide, nice for small children but also for (kite) surfing.
